SunSystems Vision
Vision enables business users to quickly and easily produce ad hoc and formal reports, in real-time, direct from their financial and operational transactional applications. Vision is integrated with tools familiar to business users such as Microsoft Excel (Vision XL) and Microsoft Word (Vision Word), as well as providing it's own standalone query and reporting environment (Vision Executive), which also enables reporting via a web browser.
These Vision client applications are linked to the underlying transactional data via a pre-defined, or custom designed, dynamic, interpretive layer that provides a business language view of the often complex database relationships. This layer, called a Serduct®, encompasses the necessary business logic, localisation, security and translations to ensure that a single, consistent view of the data is provided to all users. A custom Serduct® can be created by using Serduct Studio to map to an application's underlying database and create the required business language layer.
Vision reports can be activated based upon specific schedules and automatically distributed in a variety of formats. Alternatively thresholds and exception levels may to set to activate report production and notifications on an event driven basis. Vision Alert provides a system-wide (LAN, WAN or Web) top-level workflow scheduling and alerting system automatically running macros or reports in response to user specified business critical measures triggered from the other Vision tools or application macros and distributing them to the right people via their preferred medium.
Other components in the Vision suite include Vision Budget Management (VBM) - a spreadsheet and budget management tool designed to control the entire budget process and Vision Financial Reporting (VFR) – a Datamart that uses ETL processes to extract ledger data from underlying financial applications into a SQL Server or MDSE database. A VFR Serduct is provided to enable Vision reporting tools to access the Datamart.
