County Westmeath opt for SunSystems
Vocational Education Committees (VECs) are local statutory, education and training authorities in Ireland providing education for second level, and mature students, further education, vocational training, adult education and special education for early school leavers. There are 35 VECs in total, of which six already use SunSystems, whilst the remainder use a legacy system that has been in operation for a considerable length of time. County Westmeath VEC wanted to replace their legacy system with a modern system that would meet their present and future requirements. SunSystems was the obvious chose as it had been successfully implemented in the six other VEC's over the last couple of years.
County Westmeath VEC went out to tender to three resellers of SunSystems and chose the combination of Foundation Systems and Team Consultants. The main reason for this was the quality of service provided and the extensive product knowledge from both an application and technical perspective. County Westmeath VEC took the standard Ledger Accounting and Purchase Invoice Register modules, together with the Statutory Modules, including Prompt Payment Interest, 3rd Party Returns, Withholding Tax Formatter and Sundry Cheques. The primary benefits to the VEC are ease of reporting (including statutory reports to the Department of Education), better analysis and the ability to satisfy specific public sector requirements."
